DESCRIPTION:The Northumberland Orchestra invites you to an evening of evocative orchestral masterpieces that capture the drama and colour of the season. \nRachmaninov’s Isle of the Dead opens the programme with brooding intensity and sweeping romanticism\, inspired by Böcklin’s haunting seascape. Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances follow\, a joyful celebration of rustic rhythm and folk vitality. Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre brings a playful touch of the supernatural\, as Death leads his midnight waltz. The concert concludes with Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition\, in Ravel’s masterful orchestration\, a glittering musical gallery brought vividly to life. \nA richly atmospheric programme that showcases the expressive power and imagination of the symphony orchestra. \nRepertoire\n\nRachmaninov – Isle of the Dead\nBartok – Romanian Folk Dances\nSaint Saëns – Danse Macabre\nMussorgsky (arr.
